Social Media Refresh & Messaging Clarity
Organic Social Media • Copywriting • Brand Messaging • December 2023
Project Overview
Mischemix (Want2DJ) is a UK-based DJ coaching academy, all about making DJ-ing accessible and supportive, especially for neurodivergent beginners, hobbyists, and those coming back to the decks after a break. Michelle, the founder, was recently diagnosed with ADHD and autism, which made her even more determined to create a welcoming space. But she was struggling to show just how much care and support go into her teaching, especially the confidence-building and emotional side of things.
She got in touch with me to help her tidy up her socials and find the right words for what she does.
The Challenge
Michelle had a loyal team and solid values, but her social profiles weren’t really showing what made her different:
-
The neurodivergent-friendly approach
-
Personal, confidence-boosting sessions
-
Who the lessons are actually for
-
The emotional benefits way beyond just technical skills
She needed a proper refresh—something clear, simple, and true to her, with messaging that actually spoke to her people.
My Role
Here’s where I got stuck in:
-
Gave her Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube a good clean-up
-
Rewrote bios to actually say what she offers (in plain English, not waffle)
-
Created fresh graphics—headers, cover images, Insta highlights, the lot
-
Helped Michelle explain neurodivergent support in a way that made sense and felt warm, not clinical
-
Made sure everything looked and sounded like one brand, not three different ones
What I Delivered
1. Social media profile refresh
-
Clear, updated bios highlighting her unique way of teaching
-
Descriptions focused on accessibility, confidence, and real-life skills
-
Sorted out links, calls-to-action, and service info (sessions, bundles, gift vouchers)
-
New graphics across Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram
-
Spruced up profile pics where needed
2. Messaging for neurodivergent learners
-
Helped Michelle find her voice when talking about emotional and psychological support
-
Turned complicated stuff into calm, friendly language anyone could get
-
Made sure her messaging felt honest, not masked or sugar-coated
-
Nailed down who she’s here for: beginners, hobbyists, late-diagnosed adults, anxious learners, and creative types
3. Strategic guidance
-
Sharpened her customer persona and value proposition
-
Gave her the confidence to talk about the full experience, not just DJ skills
-
Made sure her content matched her pace, her values, and her audience
Impact
Even without ads, the changes were obvious:
-
Profiles now match up—same look, same voice, same message everywhere
-
Michelle can finally explain what she does and who she helps, without the overwhelm
-
The neurodivergent-friendly approach is front and centre, not hidden in the small print
-
Michelle says she feels way more confident and grounded in her business
